- 2 cups of graham flour
- 2 cups of rye meal
- 2 cups of boiling water
- 1 tsp. of salt
- 1 yeast cake dissolved in 1/3 cup of warm water
- 1 tbsp. of molasses
- 1 tbsp. of shortening
- First, in a mixing bowl put the molasses together with the shortening and then salt and scald it with the boiling water.
- And when luke warm add the dissolved yeast cake while making a sponge with the graham and then when some light make stiff with the rye flour.
Note: It does not require long kneading and will be slightly sticky.
- After that, you can now bake the bread in greased pan for about 1 and 45 minutes, in a moderate oven.
Serve the Graham and Rye Bread cool or warm, and also be careful of the heat in taking off the bread from the oven. Some bakeries at the states use brick oven, to make the Graham and Rye Bread perfect as it is.
