Fruit and Cake Cobbler Recipe
Because it’s vacation time, me and my family was invited to a beach Island somewhere in Bahamas from a friend of mine. After the trip, as I looked that everybody got tired. And as a mom, I was thinking of what’s the best thing after dinner or any meals. So I asked the gang and majority answered they need a sweet dessert, which is the last thing they have always been waiting for after a meal. And I’m sharing this also for you to enjoy with your family, at home or in vacation. My fruit and cake cobbler with its five ingredients that I’m sure you can always have or had it in your homes with its simple procedures. Check our fruit and cake cobbler and try how it made so simple.
Ingredients:
- 2 cans fruit pie filling or 3 cans of fruit in syrup (peaches) or any fruit that you like
- 1 box cake mix
- 2 Eggs
- 2 teaspoon of oil
- 2 cups Water for cake mixing according to the cake mix instruction
And for other combinations:
ü Cherry filling with chocolate cake mix
ü Sliced peaches with yellow cake (variation, add a can of crush pineapple and be sure to drained well)
ü Blueberries with yellow cake
ü Apple filling with spice cake
If using 3 cans of fruit in syrup, drain off and retain syrup to use instead of water in the cake mix. Do not pour the syrup into the Dutch oven or cobbler might be runny.
Procedures:
Step 1: Preheat both Dutch oven and lid on fire while preparing cake mix.
Step 2: Then, prepare a small bed of coals 6 to 8 depending on the area on a piece of foil into shiny side up form.
Step 3: Okay, so when Dutch oven is hot, let’s move to bed of coals.
Step 4: Then, wipe the bottom of Dutch oven to remove the oil residue.
Step 5: Pour the 2 cans fruit pie filling or 3 cans of fruit in syrup into hot Dutch oven.
Step 6: They should sizzle then, cover and let the fruit heat while you mix cake.
Step 7: Mix a cake according to the instructions on the box.
Step 8: Substitute the syrup, if you have it, for water.
Step 9: When the fruit starts to bubble up, pour the cake mix evenly over the top of the fruit.
Step 10: Cover the Dutch oven and add 2 to 3 times as many coals at top as on the bottom.
Step 11: Spread the coals evenly over top with a few extra in the middle.
Step 12: Cook it and checked after 15 minutes.
Step 13: Move the heat around as needed-if edges cooking too fast, slow down bottom heat by removing coals.
Step 14: Do not over heat the bottom to avoid scorching and burning of your fruit.
Step 15: Using your testing method which is to tastes it, and seeing it browned, gently removed the heat.
Step 16: Let the Dutch oven will keep the fruit and cake cobbler warm until it is ready to eat.
